Alot can happen in a couple months

whew - i just realized it has been over two months since i last posted.

the road trip to the competition was eventful - aside from hotel living, a weekend of competitions and being extremely busy, a few 'extras' were thrown in. a) i pinched a nerve in my neck/back Saturday morning - ouch...but bearable (for the moment - more happened regarding this a few days later) and b) the van broke down on the way home. definately an interesting ride back and a few days being vehicle-less while the van was fixed....not that it mattered since i was unable to drive for a week, which brings us back to the pinched nerve.

i managed to scrounge up some meds while away and my neck really didn't hurt too much - just a little stiff and sore until the night we got home. small spasm woke me up and that next day i was back to being a bit sore and unable to really move - no big deal....it's happened before, it will be fine in a few days - Ya Right! Fast forward to 6am the following morning and i have a HUGE spasm, to the point where i'm in tears and unable to get up out of bed myself (or dress myself, or get out a chair easily - you get the idea) which leads me to making a dr's appointment that afternoon (thank you chauffeur carrie!) and i do believe i spent the following 7 days in a slightly foggy daze of sleep, heating pads & muscle relaxer heaven. cool huh - ya cool except for the fact that i'd also in that week smashed my hand on the coffee table (don't try to pick up toys off the floor when you can't look down to see what you are doing - ouch) the funny thing is, my finger didn't really hurt until i'd weaned myself off those magic muscle relaxer/pain pills. Oh boy! Does that smart. It's been 2 months and i'm still feeling the effects of that little stunt and expect to for quite awhile. From experience - dislocating stuff and/or tearing tendons and all those other mystical things that make your body move.......take alot longer to heal that a simple broken bone.6

***edited to add that this post was written 2 yrs ago (in '06) and that it was sitting in 'draft' mode since then. I found it while reaquainting myself with Blogger. How cool! THIS is why I think blogging is so wonderful. I've been wondering lately when the last time I pinched a nerve in my neck and ended up on 'blithering idiot' pills. The most recent was NewYears Day '08...oh what FUN that was. Another post for another time.

April 6

The persuit of creativity (at least on my part) is put on hold. *sigh* but it's a good thing, really it is. This weekend we are on the road, heading to a dance competiton - creativity for my children. The kids are all excited - even the ones that aren't dancing. I think it has something to do with staying in a hotel and swimming in a pool. LOL My creativity will be in the form of packing, making sure all costumes are together and getting the 6 of us out the door tomorrow at a decent time. Saturday morning is going to be a tough one. Em's session is at 8am which means I'm going to have to be creative in getting her to sleep early and then getting her out of bed early enough to braid her hair and get her ready and to the theatre on time. Ty's the lucky one in all this. He doesn't dance until late Sunday morning and again Sunday afternoon and as a boy, won't be tortured with having his hair twisted and pulled and pinned to the back of his head. The picture on the left is from last year's competition in Dauphin. I must remember to get fresh batteries for the digital so I don't end up with fuzzy, grainy pics again this year. Last year we were 'competition rookies' since it was both kids' first year dancing. Actually Ty had only been dancing for about 8weeks. He was called by the instructor (a friend of ours) and asked if he would dance for a neighbouring town's club when one of their boys got hurt in late January. He's now hooked and dancing with our own club and loving it. Was there any question Em would love dancing? Nope. Looks like my career as a 'dancing mom' is going to be a long one.....but as long as I take better pics than in the past - I won't complain. All the more material to use for my own creativity (not that I've scrapped one single dancing page for either kid yet *gasp*).

April 5

Baby, I've got my groove back!

It has been a creative month for me so far and it feels great! I haven't scrapped (with ease) since early January but it seems I'm outta my funk and back.....too bad my house has taken the brunt of my creativity and there's stuff out everywhere. Creativity definately doesn't go hand in hand with being tidy....and least not in my hands.
